Suresh R Career Ad Widgets for Publishers - could be the next thing

I noticed that Monster has Career Ad widgets for publishers, not sure how many publishers have signed up to be an affiliate publisher, essentially PPC Job Ads targetted to the site.

Looks like this could be an effective way to target your job ad.

Wondering if big G will get into this, since they are already way ahead in number of publishers in their network.

If not, we may see other companies get more active in this space. Just a hunch..

David Martin Mobile stats and vision

I have been overwhelmed with the number of queries my last blog post has generated about mobile data.

So in response I have put together some slides to help share the data from the various questions.

Did you know 2 in 3 mobile web page visits are from 1 in 5 phones?

Did you know 87% of new Internet subscriptions are mobile broadband / mobile web on mobile?

Why is AppStore a marketing channel?

How might Blackberry stop the iPhone train?

Richard Johnson 3 Birthdays this year; 1, 10 and 45 - Hurray!

Imagine the scene, a crisp chilly spring morning on 17th March 2009. The banks have recently disclosed their nasty secrets and the country is bleeding jobs like back in the 70’s. There is a feeling of doom, gloom and total hesitation. A business limbo as I seem to remember.

I’d recently invested in new premises but I had to half my workforce, which left my very faithful part-time administrator and me. Luckily, I had treated my clients well over the last 10 years (Birthday No 3, April… Continue

Jeff Dickey-Chasins 5 ways to screw up your job board

I’ve observed that approximately 90% of the music put out at any given time is just not very good. Much is mediocre, and some is simply appalling. Well, folks, this is true of many industries, and it’s true of the job board industry.

Why? Well, honestly, job boards are more complex than they seem, both in design and operation. Add to this the never-ending winds of change and competition, and you can see how a job board operator might hit a few false notes.

So in the spirit… Continue

Saleem Qureshi Corporate Boards’ involvement in Talent Management

Highly influential Boards such as those at GE and Google have always kept talent development in mind when looking at long-term strategy. The Boards of these companies have relevant expertise, but most importantly they have access to several key line managers (the succession pipeline) who provide the raw data needed to construct a long-term strategy. HireLabs study of a recent McKinsey survey has revealed a few very interesting facts about how more and more Boards are actively pushing for greater… Continue

Jeff Dickey-Chasins Is your job board mobile?

Although I’m a bit skeptical of Google’s recent prediction of the imminent death of the desktop, it is true that more and more people are using their mobile devices as some form of a portable computer – for proof, just think of the number of times you’ve watched someone gamely try to type on their Blackberry or iPhone. It’s funny – but if your choice is writing on paper (horrors!) or enteri… Continue

Gillian Meier Stop drowning in CV's. Use your lifelines.

With the unemployment rate in South Africa currently at its highest in over twenty five years it is estimated that around one million Job Seekers lost their jobs last year as a result of the recession. Before the recession, job seekers were careful not to apply for jobs that they were not suited to, however with so many unemployed job seekers in the marketplace companies are now being inundated with job applications, many of which are not suita

Jeff Dickey-Chasins Confessions of a job board doctor

It’s been a year since I started blogging – a year filled with both good things and not-so-good things. But the best thing? I’m still blogging, you’re still reading, and we’re all still learning.

I rarely (well, actually, never) write about my personal life. Why? Because I’ve always assumed that: a) it’s pretty boring; b) you have better things to do; and c) why would you be reading the Job Board Doctor’s blog, if not to learn about job boards?

Saleem Qureshi Candidate-quality and placement rates

If you are a recruiter in San Francisco, then the only way that you can still afford to pay $3 a gallon these days to fill up your gas tank, is if you start increasing your placement rate. That’s easier said than done, because you have a growing talent pool (the unfortunately unemployed), and a slow-recovering job market, where other recruiters are fighting to fill the same position. At a time like this some recruiters become extremely creative, which helps them stand out from theContinue

Jeff Dickey-Chasins Cool job sites

Cool – now what is that, exactly? To me, it means unusual (in a good way), well designed, and ‘of a piece’. In other words, if it’s different and hangs together, or approaches the job board paradigm in a different, effective way, it’s cool!

So here are a few job sites I think are cool...
