Long live niche! As you know I am bullish on niche job boards. I think they are the only viable sites if you were starting one today. Now Monster, the national juggernaut is 'going niche'.

Thanks for mentioning Monster Communities in your recent blog post. To give you a closer look, Monster Communities began with our acquisition of Affinity Labs two years ago, and have grown to more than 20 networking communities ranging from first responder and healthcare communities like PoliceLink, FireLink and NursingLink, to HRPeople and InsideTech for HR and IT pros and cater to virtually every career vertical. Monster Communities have become gathering spots for career minded people looking to network with others who share similar career passions and for employers looking to engage with niche job seekers. Each of these communities also has a dedicated social media presence on Twitter and Facebook and seekers can also opt in for weekly newsletters.
Thanks again for taking notice of Monster Communities.

It is an interesting direction for Monster and lets see how it goes. My suspicion is they are going to struggle in the niche space, considering there are already leaders in individual niche areas for jobs. It eventually comes down to if the brands are making for you or not..
Their move has confirmed the thought that niche communities have better synergy for growth compared to just generic communities with no focussed direction.
Wonder what Careerbuilder is upto...they used to have niche sites in the past..
